Abstracts must conform exactly to the following instructions. Failure to submit your abstract as outlined here will mean that your abstract will not be considered for selection.
All abstracts are peer-reviewed and ranked on the basis of scientific merit. The Program Committee will use these rankings to develop the final program.
Abstracts are allocated as oral Free Papers, some of which may be in keynote or plenary sessions, or to Poster Sessions, based on the breadth or focus of interest and other considerations, including your choice. If you wish your abstract to be presented in poster form, please indicate in the relevant section of the abstract submission form.
Following assessment the poster program will be developed in selected categories. The top ranked posters will form the Poster of Merit sessions. This program will run during lunch breaks and be advertised in the conference program book. Presenters will be given five (5) minutes to give their presentation. Experts in each category will be in the audience to lead discussion and offer feedback.
A charge of AUD$44 (inc.10% GST) per submitted abstract will apply to cover the cost of publication in the Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. For the abstract to be considered eligible for submission, it must be accompanied by the payment. Payments must be made by credit card, in Australian Dollars.
All abstracts accepted will be published in the Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
At the time of submitting your abstract the data must not have been presented at any other meeting nor published as a proffered paper in Australia.
If the research presented was supported by a commercial organisation a conflict of interest form must be submitted to the Society office.
If the research involved human subjects, it must have been approved by your institutional review board or Human Ethics Committee and conform to International standards of ethical practice. Animal research must have been approved by an appropriate Review Board and conform to the highest standards of human care.
All abstract presenters are expected to disclose to the audience any significant financial interest or other relationship with:
The manufacturer of any commercial product(s) and/or provider(s) of commercial services discussed in the presentation; and Any commercial supporters of the presentation
The intent of the disclosure is not to prevent a speaker with a significant financial or other relationship with a commercial company from making a presentation, but rather to provide the audience with information with which they can form their own opinions as to whether a presentation is biased or not. It remains for the audience to determine whether the speaker’s interests or relationships have influenced the presentation.
Significant financial interest or other relationship may include such things as:
All presentations must be free of any commercial bias.
Please indicate on the submission form if any author is a current holder of a Gastroenterological Society of Australia Scholarship or Fellowship.
An author of the abstracts selected for participation on the program must attend the meeting and pay the relevant registration fee.
